Cuyahoga Valley National Park

It was the middle of the afternoon. The rain had passed and the sun was out. I walked a short distance to a narrow path that leads into the woods. I hadn't gone far when a little gray squirrel scurried across my path. I stopped prior to the footbridge - surrounded by nature.

I listened to the twittering of songbirds and watched a squirrel climb the skinniest of branches. To the right of the squirrel, beyond the tree, was a creek bed.  The sun's rays were gently peeking through the trees. Shifting patterns of light were flickering on sections of fast flowing water. I stood motionless. I felt solitude - a great escape.  I'd found my quiet splendor.(fall log)

Wishing you a great escape, Lori
