Today, the temps here have already dropped 26 degrees. I must admit, I love the view outside the window much more than being out in it.
From our window, I see a pyramidal winter evergreen being dusted by snow, and by this evening I expect layers of snow will be resting within the crevices of its limbs. Thankfully the snow will act as an insulator, protecting it from the cold.

What an interesting month January has been. We got snow dumped on us. The kind of snow that makes you want to grab the nearest inner tubing and slide down a snow-packed hill.
When I lost my tube near a row of Winter Evergreens, I changed to a hot pink saucer which is much easier to spot. I speak from experience when I say that zipping down a hill on a plastic saucer is a cheap thrill unless you end up injured and require medical attention. Thinking, I might one day gravitate towards using an air mattress.
Being a Midwesterner, I love a good hoarfrost - especially when it's unexpected. We had such a morning this month and the hoarfrost decorated all our trees and bushes, making them look like they had little white hairs. I grabbed my camera and ran outside to capture the beauty of the morning. And by 10:30 am much of the frost had melted away.

Time passed quickly and before we knew it, we had a bit of a rainstorm that melted much of the snow and we were awaken to the sounds of birds happily chirping again.
We have some blowing and drifting snow here today. And we just heard the latest weather report and we hear this clipper may deliver a blizzard with 2 to maybe 3 feet of snow over the entire NE Coast.
Mr. S and I want to give a shout out to our family and friends in the New England states.
