Prickly Pear Cactus
The Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia Humifusa) is native to Northwest Ohio and can be found in the sandy areas of Oak Openings Nature Preserve. The cactus blooms in June. The inner parts of the flowers are a dark yellow. The outer parts of the flowers are a pale yellow.
The Prickly Pear shown above was taken at the botanical garden, this winter.
