Hunting Galvanized Farmhouse Decor

I admit it.  I love galvanized containers! It seems to me that they provide the perfect vintage charm and my collection continues to grow. I also like to photograph them and then graphically edit them into prints like this one I have done above.

What I love most about galvanized containers is they are a simple treasure of memories from my childhood.

Daily, my grandma used galvanized containers to water her garden. During this time she would tell me stories about her happy farm life.

Grandma was born in the 1800s and lived well into her 90's so over the years, she had lots to share. It was a simpler time. Things were less abundant and greatly appreciated. There was a great love of God and family and there was much satisfaction in completing daily tasks.

Many decades ago, Grandma gave me her galvanized containers, I continue to use them in my garden - though at this time much of the Midwest is flooded with water and such is my garden bed.

Upon leaving my water logged garden and returning to our house, the strong scent of lemon welcomes me. When I enter our back porch, I purposely brush past the galvanized containers I've filled with lemon balm. Sometimes I pick off a few leaves to add these to my tea or add them to some lettuce from the garden and make a salad.

If you already have a favorite galvanized container what do you display in it?

One of the things I'd been hunting awhile for was a galvanized milk container and I was fortunate to purchase this one at the Evergreen Perennial Plant Sale here in Ohio. I thought it a great deal for only $2. If you are hunting for galvanized containers a good place to start is your nearest antique mall, local flea market or perhaps a perennial plant sale too.

I fell in love with this cute display above. And as you might have guessed, I'm out hunting for a few more containers for the kitchen!

If you enjoy the farmhouse vibe, you might want to join the hunt. Truly, every home could use a galvanized container or two.

Happy hunting, Lori
