Old Canal Town
We spent the afternoon shopping in Grand Rapids Ohio and took time to enjoy this beautiful view.
Across the bridge, beyond the shelter house, you can see the Maumee River.
This charming town was the home of internationally known artist and glass sculptor Dominick Labino who held over 60 glass-oriented patents.

We shopped at the stores and galleries before moving inside to a table at Miss Lily's American Restaurant.
We enjoyed our spring afternoon here and plan to return in the fall. The town hosts a wonderful Apple Butter Festival in October. Years ago, I took this photo of the festivals prize winning pumpkin.
As you leave the downtown, cross the bridge and turn left at the Providence Metro Park you can hop on board a canal boat and be pulled by mules down the Miami & Erie Canal. The park is also home to the Isaac Ludwig Mill, a working water-powered saw and gristmill.
