Lindenwood Nature Preserve
This week, we hiked at the beautiful Lindenwood Nature Preserve. Lindenwood is 110 wooded acres with an open-air pavilion and 4 hiking trails is an Indiana state-designated Nature Preserve.
The boardwalk was filled with twists and turns and we often paused to look at wildlife.
We usually spend most of our time on the Trail of Reflection (1 mile) which is the longest trail in the preserve. There is also a Trillium Trail (.5 miles), Oak Paradise Trail (.75 acres), and Maple Spur Trail (.25 miles)
As we hiked along the Reflection trail, I reflected on one of my favorite nature quotes. “Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves." by John Muir
Perhaps our favorite destination is the park's pond. We enjoy sitting here and listening to the songbirds. Beyond the pond, you can continue along the Trail of Reflection or join the Maple Spur to return to the fire circle.
This nature preserve is understated in that we seldom run into visitors here and it is truly a lovely place to unwind.
