Flooding and Flood Barriers

Here in the Midwest, many roads had high water or were closed. This creek eventually overflowed causing serious flooding to properties along with it. The Red Cross made clean-up kits available to the residents who have started the process of clean-up now that the water has receded.
My photos do not provide a clear view of the force behind the water or the terrible destruction it leaves behind.

Please do not attempt to drive-thru high water! There is a possibility there may not be a road under you. People often drown when their vehicle stalls in high water.
Burlap sacks available at feed or hardware stores are commonly used to sandbag. Around here, commercial plastic ( polypropylene) bags are used too. But if you ever helped with this during flooding, you'll know filling these is difficult work.
Another useful thing I saw in use this week was a large bladder. It is filled with water and is useful in diverting and preventing destruction.
