ARRL Field Day
Field Day is a powerful celebration of connection, community, and preparedness. But for me, Field Day has always carried a more personal meaning. Many of my cherished memories come from watching my dad and brother fully immersed in the world of amateur radio. Both were licensed operators and their passion for communication—whether in everyday conversations or during moments of crisis—left a lasting mark on me. I recall intently listening as their voices traveled the airwaves, reaching people across the world. It wasn’t just a hobby; during emergencies, ham radios become lifelines, and their calm, steady voices bring reassurance when it's needed most. Being back at Field Day this year brought all of those memories flooding back.
A Field Day sign stood proudly outside the EMA building. Stepping inside, I had the chance to catch up with Steve and Mike. One moment that truly touched me was seeing the plaque on the wall bearing my dad’s name and call sign. It was a powerful reminder of the legacy he left behind and the community that continues to honor it.
