Rhythm of the Muse exhibit at the Wassenberg Art Center

 

Yesterday, my mom and I spent some time exploring the “Rhythm of the Muse” exhibit at the Wassenberg Art Center. I visit the center often for exhibits and have taken classes at the Art Center, so it’s always inspiring to see the variety of artwork on display—but this show, in particular, reminded me why I keep coming back: it encourages me to continue creating, to experiment with new techniques, and to expand my own artistic interests.

What immediately sets this exhibit apart is the way it blends music with visual art. Each piece was inspired by a specific song, and as we moved through the gallery, the music in the background helped set the mood and connect each piece to a rhythm of inspiration. Experiencing how artists translate sound into visual form sparked ideas for my own work and reminded me of the limitless ways creativity can manifest.

The exhibit features a wide range of mediums. There were paintings, mixed media pieces, and other creative forms, each interpreting inspiration in a unique way. Some works were bold and energetic, almost matching the tempo of the music, while others were more contemplative and subtle. My mom and I also discussed techniques like layering and texture, which added depth and dimension to the pieces. Observing these methods motivates me to experiment more in my own artwork.

Why touring Mom and I looked at the different categories as they exhibit acceept ages 5 years - 105 years. There were many regional artist and a few of them we knew.

The Best of Show went to a piece titled “Duality”, which expressed the theme of translating music and emotional inspiration into visual art.
