Charleston Falls Preserve is one of the most frequented places in Miami County’s Park District. It's a haven of over 216 acres where prairie and forest meet in quiet harmony. But at its heart lies the park’s most captivating treasure - the Falls, which tumbles 37 feet over ancient limestone ledges formed from the same rock layers as Niagara itself. Fed by underground springs miles to the east, its clear waters leap from the gorge, shimmer in the sunlight, and wind their way toward the Great Miami River. The best time to visit is after a heavy rain, but even though it has been dry, the area is still worth visiting and is beautiful in its own right Surrounding the falls, visitors can wander more than three miles of scenic trails that weave through Redbud Valley and the Thorny Badlands, where bursts of color and birdsong accompany every step.
