Historical Dollhouse

July 2025 was a whirlwind of activity and joy. We celebrated the 4th of July with spectacular fireworks and explored several lively festivals throughout the month.

One of the most memorable moments was visiting a historical museum, where I stumbled upon a tin dollhouse almost identical to the one I cherished as a child. Seeing it brought back a flood of memories and I was surprised to learn that many of my facebook friends had the same dollhouse growing up. It was a beautiful reminder of the simple joys we all shared in childhood.

World Famous Six Hundred Downtown Brick Oven Pizzeria

We enjoy Pizza and the Six Hundred Downtown in historic Downtown Bellefontaine is some of the best pizza we've experienced. If you wonder why it is called Six Hundred it is because they use old world brick-ovens and bake them at 600 degrees. Their menu is vast. Our waiter did an excellent job of selling everything on the menu. We scanned through their pasta and salads and we decided to select an authentic and unique pizza. We settled on a classic Italian crust on THE LEONIDAS which is flavored with a marvelous garlic sauce and had a topping of baby spinach, artichoke hearts, black and Kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, and Blue Jacket Dairy feta cheese. When we return to Bellefontaine, we will be sure to stop in again.

Lakeside Park and Rose Garden

We love to explore rose gardens and this June we traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana, and spent time at Lakeside Park and Rose Garden. Lakeside was named a National Rose Garden in 1928 and is home to over 2,000 roses. In addition to roses, there's a marvelous pergola, and retaining wall with a lionhead fountain. A brick pathway surrounds reflection pools in the sunken garden and there is a large fishing pond in the middle of the park Park benches make for a nice place to sit and enjoy the lovely surroundings. Windy Point State Park, Montezuma, OH

When I was a kid, we used to go fishing at Windy Point—it was one of those quiet, special places that stay with you. If you look at a map, it’s just a stone’s throw from Cottonwood Cottage. I have so many memories from those days: early mornings, calm water, and that sense of peaceful stillness. A few years back, they put in a beach just down the way from where we used to fish. This week, I finally had the chance to go back and see it for myself. Being there again, standing where I stood as a kid, brought a rush of memories. Things have changed, sure, but it is still peaceful.
